The Veggie Bowl is a separately listed product, so its price was checked directly. We did not estimate it by subtracting the cost of chicken from a Cantina Chicken Bowl. The restaurant comparison below shows why that distinction matters: the vegetarian option was cheaper at some addresses and the same price at others.

At 10310 Lake June Rd in Dallas, the Chicken Bowl was $8.39 and the Veggie Bowl $7.99, a $0.40 difference. At 104 3rd Ave in New York, the difference was $0.50 ($11.49 versus $10.99). At the Columbus and Los Angeles addresses, the two bowls cost the same. Choosing the Veggie Bowl therefore did not produce a uniform discount across this sample.

What comes in a Cantina Chicken Bowl?

The official Cantina Chicken Bowl description lists slow-roasted chicken, seasoned rice, black beans, avocado ranch sauce, reduced-fat sour cream, lettuce, purple cabbage, pico de gallo, guacamole and cheddar cheese. It is served with an Avocado Verde Salsa packet.

Those rice, bean, vegetable and sauce components distinguish the bowl from simply ordering a portion of chicken. The listed price is for the standard bowl; it does not include an assumed extra chicken portion, side or drink. If you want a complete order with a beverage, use the drinks guide to compare a separately purchased drink at your chosen restaurant.

What changes in the Veggie Bowl?

The Veggie Bowl includes seasoned rice, black beans, lettuce, purple cabbage, pico de gallo, guacamole, avocado ranch sauce, reduced-fat sour cream and cheddar. It has its own listing and ingredient description, without the chicken in the standard recipe. The description checked did not promise the Chicken Bowl’s Avocado Verde Salsa packet, so we have not added one to its included contents.

Taco Bell lists the Veggie Bowl as vegetarian under its lacto-ovo definition, which allows dairy and eggs. The standard recipe contains cheese and sour cream; a vegetarian label does not make it vegan. Taco Bell also notes shared preparation and possible cross-contact. For a particular ingredient restriction, use the brand’s ingredient and allergen information for your exact order.

At the Dallas address, the bowl was $8.39 and the burrito $6.99: $1.40 more for the bowl. At the New York address, the bowl was $11.49 and the burrito $8.19: $3.30 more. These are comparisons of two different standard items, not a charge for removing a tortilla or a claim that their portion weights match.

The bowl explicitly includes rice, black beans and guacamole. The burrito has its own tortilla-based recipe and sauces, described in the Taco Bell burrito guide. Choose by the ingredients and format you want, then compare the prices at one restaurant rather than combining the lowest price from one city with the highest from another.

Customizations and older Power Menu Bowl names

The prices above apply to the current Cantina Chicken Bowl and Veggie Bowl names in the checked menus. We did not find a separately priced Power Menu Bowl in those bowl categories. An older Power Bowl price should not be treated as the current price of either item, and this five-restaurant sample cannot establish availability at every US restaurant.

The official Veggie Bowl ordering page offers ingredient changes, but this check does not establish the same add-on charge at multiple restaurants. Extra meat, additional sauces or other changes can alter the final amount. Removing an ingredient also does not establish a discount unless the selected restaurant actually shows one.
